SWIMMING CARNIVAL 2015
Above are our IPS age champions for 2015
This years swimming carnival was ran a little differently from previous years. Rather than all of the school student's from K-6 going to one carnival the school decided to have years 2-6 go to Maclean pool for their carnival and the K-1s to the local pool at the Anchroage.
The day started off with the mixed age 100 metre freestyle race. This race allowed students to compete against others that they would not normally compete against due to age differences. In the boys division, it was 4th grader Jesse Cocks that outclassed Caleb Lamberth in second and coming in an impressive 3rd place was 2nd grader Eddie Cok. Also swimming against older students was Isla Brittain who took out the girls division in front of Molly Deakin and Reminy Holmes.
We then moved onto the 50 metre freestyle events for specific age divisions. All age divisions and races showed strong swimming from numerous competitors. After the feestyle races were completed we then moved onto the breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly and then finished off with the relays.
After each swimming style was completed the house scores were tallied to keep all student's informed of how their house was traveling on the leaderboard. It was rush that was leading the entire way all day...until, the relay events were raced. Because the relays are made up of a variety of students it meant that a team win was worth double points. Out of the 4 relays raced, it was Hickey that came out victorious in three of them. Meaning they earned themselves three lots of double points which enabled them to take over the lead from Rush and acheive the highest points total at the end of the day.
All in all, it was a great day at the pool and we could not have had such a good day without the parents and carers helping all day. We would like to thank everyone that was involved and we would like to wish all the students going to Zone the bestest of luck.
