PRINCIPAL REPORT

DEAR PARENTS AND CARERS

A big welcome back to all our beautiful, clever students.

Congratulations to our families and especially the students! You have engaged so well with your Learning from Home packs these past four weeks. I am incredibly proud of you all!

I take this opportunity to thank the parents, carers, grandparents, big brothers and sisters for all the work and support you gave to our students while in lock down.

It’s so great that we can get back into a school routine once again.

Can I also please share some helpful tips for you as we return to school;

I know our teachers and SASS staff have been excited to catch up with our students and see everyone again and it has been great to see friends and peers playing happily once again on the playground (even if this is under modification as per below).

We commence this last week of Term 3 under Level 3 guidelines. Please see the attached link for all the details of what this involves.

LEARNING FROM HOME

I know that sometimes Learning from Home felt too easy and sometimes it felt a bit too hard. Everyone has a different Learning from Home story to tell.

A huge pat on the back to our school community for getting behind our virtual celebrations! It was great to see our students get involved and highlight what a creative bunch they are! Thank you to the teachers for all their hard work in coordinating such a wonderful four weeks of activities for our students. Check out some of the more recent photos below!

ENROLMENTS FOR KINDERGARTEN 2022

We are currently taking enrolments for Kindergarten 2022. Please let any neighbours and friends in the local area know that we are enrolling now. At this stage our Term 4 Kindergarten Orientation Program dates will remain as planned and I will update you should there be a change. The dates are posted on the upcoming events planner at the top of our newsletter.

SINCERE THANKS

Once again, as Term 3 draws to a close, (I know, already!!!) I would like to acknowledge our student and parent community for your extraordinary flexibility, patience and resilience during these uncertain times. Whilst it has been a challenging term in many ways, we should all be proud of the enduring Iluka PS team spirit – it remains strong despite the adversity.

And, as we finish this Friday afternoon for school holidays, I would also like to thank all the staff. This term has been challenging and at the same time rewarding. This certainly couldn’t be the school that it is without the staff that are here. I am very grateful every day to work with this team.

I trust that you all have a safe and restful break. Students return to start Term 4 on Tuesday 5 October 2021.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN

Spring has sprung and with it comes an increase in dry, windy weather. Unfortunately this also heralds our bush fire season as fast approaching. With this in mind, it is important for our school to be prepared for any situations that may eventuate. Therefore, I attach a copy of Iluka Public School's Emergency Management Plan for local bush fire activity for your perusal.

Have a great week. Phil

CLASS K/1 NEWS

Welcome back students and parents. Although this is a short week, it is great to have the students back at school. A sentiment that I am sure parents and carers will agree with.

Return To School - The students thoroughly enjoyed the ‘slip n slide’ and bubble party that was held yesterday. It was a great way for the Kindergarten and Year One students to come together to reconnect with class members and friends. The students had big smiles on their faces and there was lots of laughter. At the end of the day it was awesome to hear the words, “I'll see you tomorrow Miss Essery”.

Reading Eggs - All students have been given their login details for Reading Eggs today.

CLASS 2/3 NEWS

Hello everyone,

It was so great to have everyone back yesterday. We now have twenty children in our 2/3 classroom. We welcome Fenix to our IPS family. Fenix is in Year 2 and we hope you enjoy getting to know the students in the 2/3 classroom.

Well done to all that completed the set work during lock down. It is never an easy time and the best way to get through it is to work together cooperatively. So thank you for the positive feedback.

Any finished booklets can be returned to school so they can be marked and sent home again.

Year 3 - children have been given their NAPLAN results. Overall they did very well and I feel very proud of their efforts.

PLEASE - keep up the reading over the holiday period.

Hopefully next term will flow a little better as the pandemic settles somewhat. Stay safe and enjoy our little piece of paradise, called ILUKA! Di

CLASS 4 NEWS
