PRINCIPAL REPORT

Dear parents/carers and community members,

Reporting of Incidents at the School During the School Holidays

Please call School Security on 9831 7622 or Iluka Police on 66466019 should you observe anything of concern in the school grounds during the holidays.

IPS Tennis Championships

Well done to Eddie for winning the annual Iluka Public School Tennis Championships. He has been runner up for the last 3 years and will now get his name on the trophy. Well done to Decoda for finishing runner up in a field of over 20 contestants.

Presentation Day

We were very excited to have spent a great morning of celebration with our families, celebrating our many successes at the Presentation Day Assembly last Tuesday. The morning’s success, in no small way, was due to the organisation and planning by the office and teaching staff. All students should be praised for the way they conducted themselves and participated, reminding us why we are so proud of them. We have a wonderful school with great teachers and staff, students and parents. Our Presentation Day Assembly reflected the wonderful achievements of our great team effort.

Year 6 Farewell Disco

A fun filled night was enjoyed by all the students following the Presentation Day. All students seemed to enjoy the dancing and having so much fun. Year 6 were farewelled with the traditional cutting of the cake followed by one lap around the floor saying their goodbyes. Special thoughts go out to our departing Year 6 students and families who will be leaving the school with many positive experiences to remember.

Carols at the School

Our school had a busy and successful night at the Iluka Community Carols at the School. The P&C did a sensational job cooking the BBQ for the large crowd. Thank you also to our volunteers who assisted and lent a hand. The whole school and the choir opened the night. Several students participated in various songs throughout the night, while several students performed dancing routines under the guidance of Miss Lauren. I was very pleased with the turnout and the behaviour of our students. Great work!

Library Books

There are still a number of books which have not been returned to the library. Could families please assist by looking under beds, lounges and in all of the nooks and crannies at home to locate any books that belong to the school library. As there is no more borrowing from the school library, the Public Library is again running their Summer Reading Activities (see their program on the back pages of the newsletter). Membership is free, you have access any local library in Iluka, Maclean, Yamba or Grafton. Information is available through their website at https://www.crl.nsw.gov.au, or directly at the library or from me at school.

End of Year Fun Activities

All classes have been or will be involved in special end of year fun activities. On Monday we held our Iluka’s Got Talent Show and we brought in the Giant Waterslide as the reward for the 200 nights reading. Today there is the Iluka Public School Tennis Championship while tomorrow sees Year 6 playing the teachers in a friendly game of Big Ball.

Captains/Prefects 2019/2020

A huge THANK YOU to the School Captains, Prefects and House Captains of 2019 for all of your support this year. With your help and encouragement the school has been a safe and respectful school. Also congratulations to our new 2020 school leaders. Hudson, Amy-Leigh, Mia and Reef. We know you will be wonderful in your leadership roles.

School Planning for 2020

At this time we are planning to start the year with 4 classes. This is a reduction from 2019. We are planning to start the 2020 with children allocated in classes for the year, but there may need to be some changes made early on. Teachers are currently forming classes for next year. If you have not done so already and you are planning to leave our school ( Year 6 excluded ), can you please ring the office and let us know.

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Take time to enjoy your families and build some happy memories together. Do not forget to read over the holidays. We look forward to another great year with you all in 2020. Merry Christmas and have a very safe and happy holiday, Phil
